This silk example of a French "globe de mariee" cushion has faded over the years from cherry red to the palest pink.
These traditionally sat underneath glass domes and would be used for the bride to display her wedding tiara after the big day.
Designs vary per region and this particular one is on an ebonised wooden base. Featuring a beautiful configuration of bevelled mirrors to the front and sides as well as the traditional toleware decoration of birds, leaves and flowers.
