Charming sweetheart pincushion
These heart-shaped cushions were produced by wounded soldiers as they were recuperating in hospital. Once complete, they were sent home to wives, mothers and sweethearts as a token of love.
They often feature short mottos such as “Forget Me Not” or “Remember Me” as well as photos or flags. They are stuffed with sawdust and generally came in kit form which included the mottos, pins and beads.
This particular one bears the emblem of the South Wales Borderers.
Condition: It is missing one of the embroidered pieces top left. Hole in the back which has been patched with tape and some sawdust has been lost meaning its a bit "saggy"
